Here is a very nice overview that I would like to share for all the gems that will be available once patch 3.2 hits.
 Gem Reference Guide - Part 1 |
 Gem Reference Guide - Part 2 |
A link to download it as a PDF as well.
And now the most important part!
Credit goes to Banana Shoulders, you can view the post of this very nice overview right here!
Edit: It seems the prismatic gem will get an update after all +10 on all stats (Nightmare Tear). (this isn’t in the overview since the overview was created before this announcement)

Phase 1:
- The main tank grabs Malygos and turns it away from the raid.
- You can safely position yourself at the back of the dragon as he has no tail swipe.
- Sparks will spawn that will drift to Malygos and that need to death gripped (preferably) away from Malygos. This needs to be done carefully because if the spark reaches Malygos it will one shot the tank. The sparks provide a 50% DPS buff and they stack, so grabbing sparks to the same spot is possible, but again, with the necessary care that the spark doesn’t reach Malygos. DPS should use the sparks as much as possible as it shortens the time needed to kill him and gives us more time for phases 2 & 3.
- When we get pulled up in the vortex you should immediately position yourself facing south as when you fall back to the ground, this is where you should be running to to avoid ending up in front of him, the tank will make sure Malygos faces north.
- Rinse & repeat until Malygos flies up and summons adds.
Phase 2:
- Malygos will summon adds in that fly around on platforms. Let the tanks grab some aggro on the adds that come down, then start DPS-ing them down. Ranged DPS goes on the Scions (the guys that keep flying around.) Focus fire down the ones marked by hunters. Melee on the guys that come down. When they drop their platforms, these can be used by melee dps to hunt down the adds that fly around.
- Keep inside the protective shields as much as possible as it reduces magic damage by 50%, watch for the Deep Breath. If you get caught outside the shield on a Deep Breath, you will most likely die. Move to a new shield when appropriate.
- If you’re on a platform (off the ground) you can’t get hit by the Deep Breaths.
Phase 3:
This is the tricky bit where we all land on red dragons. The main important points for this bit:
- We start out grouped up on the main tank & gather in the south.
- Everyone that was a healer in phases 1 & 2 will be healing in this phase too.
- Stay at least 30 yards away from Malygos, if you get too close you risk getting into his AOE.
- The reason we stay grouped up is for the healing bit of this phase. Not grouped = no heals = dead = wipe.
- We move as a group counter-clockwise. (That’s strafing to your right around Malygos) We have to do this to avoid the static field.
- This phase works with combo points on either Malygos or our own dragon and you build them by using skills, then using a finisher. Skills you use depend on whether you’re DPS or Healing
- Start your shield when Malygos’ beam starts to hit you, not when he starts casting!
Here are 2 macros that will assist you in targeting the correct target at the beginning of the fight for DPS & Healing. Once you get going you can start using a manual rotation so you can also use your shield when necessary and build more stacks, the macro makes it easy though.
DPSer Macro
/tar malygos
/castsequence reset=target Engulf in Flames, Flame Spike, Flame Spike
This way you will have 2 combo points up at all times, so when you get fixed by Malygos you can shield (5) instead of Engulf in Flames.
Healer Macro
/tar pet
/castsequence [target=pet] Revivify, Revivify, Life Burst
